Rent, year by year

Pick your town and see how much rent is paid each year, from 2011 to 2024, and whether it went up or down. Then compare it with another.

In Fuentidueña de Tajo, the median rent declared to the tax office (SERPAVI) for a flat went from €350 a month in 2020 to €408 in 2024: €58 more a month than in 2020.

"Median" means half of the flats pay less and half pay more. It is the rent landlords declare to the tax office, not what adverts ask today. The latest year the Ministry publishes is 2024.

Each stripe is a year, from 2020 to 2024. Blue: the lowest year in that town's history. Red: the highest. Grey: no figure that year.

What it measures and where it comes from

Euros a month: the median rent declared to the tax office (SERPAVI) for a flat, from the rents landlords declare to the tax office, new and old tenancies. Median means half are below and half above. It is not euros per square metre, nor what adverts ask today.

There is a long enough series for 132 of the 179 towns in Madrid. The other 47 are not in the search because the Ministry publishes no figure for 5 years or more.
